Comprehensive Handwriting Assessment & Report

An initial assessment will be completed with your child on your first appointment. An initial assessment is booked for 60-75 minutes and a series of specifically chosen standardised and non-standardised tests are carried out on your child. These assessments are used to gather important information about your child's strengths and weaknesses.

Assessments differ for every child to cater to their abilities, skill level, limitations and age.

Following the initial assessment, a comprehensive report will be provided detailing the findings and recommendations and how attendance at regular occupational therapy sessions will help your child.

Assessment Tools that I am able to administer:

  • Detailed Assessment of Speed of Handwriting (DASH & DASH 17+)

  • Evaluation Tool of Children's Handwriting (ETCH)

  • Movement Assessment Battery for Children-3 (MABC-3)

  • Berry Visual Motor Integration (Beery VMI)

  • Bracken School Readiness Assessment

  • Handwriting Legibility Scale

  • Developmental Coordination Questionnaire (DCDQ'07)

Following the initial assessment, individual therapy sessions of 45-minutes each may be recommended for your child. During these personalized sessions, your child will engage in a variety of activities depending on what their needs and goals are.  Lots of opportunity for practice will be provided and at the end of each session, a small amount of homework will be provided to complete before their next session.

Weekly intervention sessions are recommended for best results.
