The Child Sensory Profile2 is a measure of a child’s responses to sensory events in daily life. It is administered to determine whether aspects of sensory processing might be contributing to performance challenges in the daily life of your child.
The Sensory Profile 2, is a caregiver/client questionnaire, that helps us to identify sensory preferences. This assessment is a questionnaire for ages 3:0 to 14:11 in which the caregiver marks how frequently the child engages in the behaviours listed on the form. The responses to sensory situations are then compared to a national standardised sample of reports from other raters.
We know from research that the Sensory Profile2 can help identify an individual's sensory processing patterns; the results can then be used to consider how these patterns might be contributing to or creating barriers to performance in daily life. The profile outcomes can help the child and their caregivers develop a greater awareness of the child's sensory preferences and triggers, leading to better management.

All sensory patterns have both advantages and disadvantages. Whether or not an individual’s sensory processing pattern is an advantage or disadvantage is dependent upon the content and the task performed. Many people have figured out ways to manage their own sensory pattern to live a satisfying life.
